The ripening period for apricots is from the end of June to the end of August. The bicolour and red varieties of apricots are selected for their organoleptic qualities.
There are many benefits of consuming this fruit: it contains beta-carotene, which protects the skin from the sun's rays; it is rich in fibre, which favours intestinal motility; moreover, thanks to its low glycaemic index, it can be safely consumed in cases of hyperglycaemia; finally, it is rich in vitamin A, which has a strong antioxidant power, helping to stem the effects of free radicals.
